When a supposed friend (usually male) occupies the time and space of a "platonic" companion (usually female) with the intent of preventing them from engaging in relations with someone more deserving. The bird nester has been friend zoned--quietly rejecting the rejection; resulting in stealthy cock blocking techniques to buy them some time to win their friend over like a Hollywood rom-com.
