One who enters sealed or abandoned mine shafts to explore or collect minerals and artifacts, generally under the cover of darkness.

Midnight miners had gained entry into the old Pewabic mine by using a 20 ton bottle jack to pry up the concrete cap.

john milner

The only real cool character in the American Graffiti movie series, essentially the person who The Fonz was based on in the television series. While a bit player in the first movie he came into his own as a character in the second one. Milner was killed on New Years Eve when he was struck head on after a race in the second movie.
Milners "baby shit" yellow street rod in both movies is often duplicated by garage builders and often seen on cruise nights in Stockton.

Terry the Toad: "Hey Milner, there's some dude in a hot Chevy looking for ya"
John Milner: "Yeah, there's always someone looking for me."
