The internet is permitting easy access for anyone who would want to don scene-esque style and jump right in to a culture that scenesters feel they have built from the ground up and developed into a complex lifestyle. However, this lends many to get caught up in popularity contests in local areas as well as on the world wide web. Unfortunately, this can also lead to rifts in scenes. Groups of hardcore scenesters start "crews," often characterized by fierce brotherhood to the point of violence against others who are unlike them or who are in other crews."
This definition is added to recognize the fact that even though Punks and Scenesters are not similar in anyway, Punk is what built all of this from the ground up, and Scenesters don't realize that they as a group have also contributed to "posuerism- for lack of better or real words that would describe this" and have torn down the original and much more real and complex LIFESTYLE of Punks.

So in all reality a TRUE punk is unexplainable. The reason i say this being that all of teen society was mad when they couldn't categorize a punk in any other word because punks in fact are so unique that there was no other word. mostly,
1.everything has to be tight and small or almost not fit,i
mean EVERYTHING such as their band shirts pants jackets etc and wear either flats or beat up vans.they also wear their hair mostly the same with the frindge or bangs to the side,long or maybe with the back spiked sometimes but thats becoming "uncool" nowadays.
2.from what ive seen most listen to a wide variety of music but it depends on what kind of scene kid ur dealing with,some only will listen to one genere b/c they think it's cool or they want to fit in such as grindcore hardcore etc.
3.most are racist, like they will not hang around black people and wont let them in their little cliques they are mostly all white cliques and/or a few mexican or asian maybe.
4.think they are the shit and better than others.
5.back bite and talk shit about everyone and are mostly hated by everyone.
6.think being a pot head is cool unless they consider themself as "straight edge"
7.always on myspace taking a new photo of themseleves every week in a different pose.
8.have a weird "thing' with brass knuckles and hello kitty wtf??
9.always go to some band's show even if they suck just for something to do and to say their "cool".

Usually very hierarchical according to how you dress, where you work/dj/what band you play in, what music you listen to and how obscure it is, and how well you are known by others in the "scene".

Music: only listen to the things no one else would because there such rebels and tend to go to local shows and then brag about about it for 3 months until the next one they go to and can swing there arms around, almost punching people, and calling it hardcore dancing or moshing.
Attitude: tend to think there style is really unique when really all it is is dinosaurs, stars, hearts, guns, knives, skulls and a bunch of other things they think are soooo cute. think there the kewlest people in the world and everyone is copying them. tend to be stuck up and act like they just drank 4 red bulls and ate 50 bags of sour patch kids. tend to say things like the sex, rawr, omg, and other things they may have come up with like radzilla and scenetastic
