They are just trying to force me to accept something I don't have to accept and they are making you complicit in that act by telling you that you can't tell me what I want to know."

That's the point of designing it this way. You want to make appeals to the lives that it potentially harms but you are the one with the power to do it and there is only one way to turn it off. So you clearly don't care all that much about the lives.
