hobbit

Cute little race of people who exist in Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy. Tiny in stature (adults standing three to four feet tall); rather plump in body; with big, hairy feet; pointy ears; long, curly hair on their heads; and infectuous enthusiasm for life and won't turn down a good party or open displays of affection. Their natural habitat is the Shire, although , some have moved elsewhere.

The Elves, pretty; Humans, also nice to look at... but the Hobbits! They're so cuuuuuute! I just want hug them! ...but I'm afraid that I'd strangle them.

In the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, as well as "The Hobbit," Hobbit Holes were the residences of Hobbits, usually built into a hillside.

Frodo retired to his hobbit hole to write "There and Back Again."

Calvin and Hobbles

Nickname for the current QB/WR tandem for the Detroit Lions. Refers to Calvin Johnson and the oft hurt Daunte Culpepper.

The Lions ended the season 0-16 last year despite the best efforts of Calvin and Hobbles.

Basement hobbit

A man of a certain age, starting from 30, who still lives with his mother and could not make it on his own for more than two years at a time without moving back in. Also refers to guys who don't have a job and live with their mother for the free ride, sucking her pension funds dry.

Example #1;

Girl #1: "So how is dating that Dan guy going for you?"

Girl #2: "Well I dumped him... I found out he's nothing but your run-of-the-mill basement hobbit."

Example #2;

Girl #1: "Wayne always has something to b*tch about... yesterday he complained about his mom not giving him money for smokes"

Girl #2: " What in Hell does he have to bitch about? He doesn't work and he lives with his mom... and he's well over 30. He's such a basement hobbit".
