Verb. The act of looking up something at www.wikipedia.org, the prominent open source encyclopedia.

Derrivation comes from the eventual contraction of the suggestion that a person "wikipedia- it" which evolved into "wiki it" which became simply "wikit".

wikitrap

When one looks something up on wikipedia, and finds oneself clicking through links to related articles until several hours have passed, tasks for the day not achieved, trains missed, etc. It is implied that one is not longer able to leave wikipedia.

Tends to end up, no matter where one started, with articles about the British Royal Family.
Noun: "I got stuck in a wikitrap today for four hours"

Verb (passive): "I would have come out but I went to look up something for my hoemwork and was wikitrapped all evening"

wikitrip

The act of spending long amounts of time reading several articles on Wikipedia or other Wiki sites. Usually the act starts with the reader reading an article they intended to read, then following links to other articles within the first article. The wikitrips can last for hours, and usually spans several various topics.
"Last night I went on Wikipedia to look up stuff for my research paper on Argentina, then I followed links until I eventually was reading about the minors characters of the Star Wars movies. It was a super long wikitrip."
