When someone prefers the brand Adidas over Nike. Adidas is commonly known as 'the brand with three stripes' given that most logos contain 3 oblique stripes, while Nike is known for its 'swoosh' logo which looks like a check mark.

Brandon: 'Yo, I got you this really cool Adidas sweatshirt for your birthday!'
Chad: 'Thanks man, you know I'm all about stripes over checks!'

Stripes And Spots 

Stripes and spots are the fashion, the now. Spotty and striped clothing are all the rage this summer, I must admit I have a few colourful stripey tops. They were fashionable even back in the 60s and 70s (but not the 80s, the decade fashion forgot). Whereas stripes suit girls as well as guys, spots only really fit on girls.

Dude 1: "Dudey, check out ma new stripey pink woolen jumper, with ma sexual ripped jeans and dangerous KSwiss trainers."

Dude 2: "Yeah man. I think stripes and spots are baad!"

the white stripes 

Rock duo that makes amazing music using the least amount of instruments possible. Part of the rock revival and one of the only bands around today who play actual rock music. In a couple of years they will probably make an awesome album using only a cheeze grater, a pan, and a wooden spoon.
