schlabbergasted

Used as an adjective or noun, describing the state of someone who is insanely drunk or shit faced, but is aware of their state and fighting to remain conscious for some reason. This fight to avoid blacking out can be for various reasons. This is typically so that they can get somewhere in time to attempt to avoid getting into trouble, make it to work, or attend to their responsibilities.

The term "schlabbergasted" is a play on the word "flabbergasted," as people in this state have the face of someone who appears flabbergasted due to the fact that they are fighting the effects of a large amount of alcohol.

It originated among drunken ROTC cadets at UNG trying to get back to their dormitories from Johnny B's shitfaced in time before "TAPS" at midnight to avoid punishment.

Dude, did you see that guy stumbling back to the barracks fucking schlabbergasted at 2358? If he doesn't make it back in time, his company commander is gonna fucking kill him.
