palanca

A letter (either long or short) usually given to people who are going to have retreats, recollections and the like. You usually put the good and bad traits of that person but some people end up making it a "thank you" letter.

It is a Spanish word but its real definition is not at all related to the word "letter." It is a slang and has no exact etymology.

Palacos

An Italian gangster who struts his stuff in a lovely velour Adidas tracksuit, usually in one of three colors, baby blue, light yellow, or grape juice purple. Underneath the tracksuit a nasty, old wife beater is worn so that any hint of chest hair that grows can be shown off to its full extent. He wears at least one, if not more, large golden chains to show that he somewhat religious even though he kills people for a living. A short haircut is mandatory, preferable a high and tight, just so that he can look more badass than he actually is.

Make sure you take a friend when you go out clubbing tonight, you might run into Palacos.

Palancing

Trinidad Soca Monarchs JW and Blaze coined the derived term ’palancing’’. Although claimed as theirs, formed by simply removing the ’R’’ from the word ’parlance’’. The term is ’Jack Palancing’’ which is a linguistic device known as rhyming slangs (later to be called Cockney rhyming slangs). These rhyming slangs, peculiar to most languages were slangs in which words were replaced by a word or phrase with which they rhymed. Another form of rhyming slangs was called reduplication as in such terms as ’hoity toity’’, ’namby pamby’’, ’nitty gritty’’, ’itsy bitsy’’ etc.

The term ’Jack Palancing’’ simply means dancing. Its origin may be more Irish than Cockney. As a matter of fact, one well-known Cockney rhyming slang is ’donkey’s ears’’ meaning ’years’’.

Jack Palance

To accidentally inhale sharply through both the nose and mouth at the end of a statement, a la actor Jack Palance. This is due either to an oncoming burp or hiccup,or other change of internal pressure.

So yesterday I fell off of the toilet.(gasp)...Wow, I just Jack Palanced at the end of that sentence
