It is derived from "normal people" as they are considered the majority of people.
Tend to consume something popular, because others are doing it, to be like others.
A person, who's been living their whole life mostly within the boundaries of "social rails", the working middle class, typically spoiled by relative early financial and social safety (not pauper parents, not bullied much past elementary school - basic infantile stuff, has not been influenced much by any peer sadists or criminals).
In most cases they are ignorant , not independent thinkers, so they tend to accept whatever view is the least controversial or exposing and the majority is thinking or promoting, that requires the least thought from them, they don't apply the rules of science (they don't scrutinize morality, themselves, don't question everything).
Normies=Tribal people, morality is defined by their tribe or they can find a tribe that aligns with theirs. Super-tribe contains general alignments between different groups of normies. Abuse (which is both sadistic & psychopathic) is also a probing tool used to check if a person is part of any tribe and if current tribe's members reactions are aligned (alignment of in-group biases/morals); while people that are abused often are either marginalized non-tribals or marginalized tribes - not part of a supertribe.

- Have you heard of the new fifa coming out? / Any content with violence in it causes violence! / People shoot others, because they are just depressed posers! / Homeless people are just lazy and should just get educated, just get a job and just buy a house. / Why didn't I know about this one person being sort of abused on the other side of the planet until this BBC report!? this is outrageous.

Any person that just doesn't get 'it', and isn't aware of how sad it is that they don't get 'it'. A mildly derogatory term used by a member of some elite group to describe people outside of the group.
The 'it' varies widely from group to group; for nerds, normies are people that can't tell kinetic energy apart from their dicks; for geeks, anyone that scoffs at their D&D capes that they wear when they go to Burger-King; hipsters, anyone wearing and American Eagle shirt...
Essentially, 'normies' are the 'muggles' of the world, if the word 'muggles' didn't carry so much harry potter baggage.

Derogatory term used for those with an IQ under 115 and/or without "strange" behavior or mental processes (which include but are not limited to traits of Schizoid Personality Disorder, Autism, OCD, and Social Anxiety Disorder) that often accompany high IQs. Normies are deeply concerned with superfluous matters such as fashion and "normal" TV shows, however, not all people who enjoy such things are normies.
Look at the normies, running around so concerned about their sports and brand-name clothes.
"Did you see the new Jersey Shore episode? That show is so like my life."
"No, I was too busy watching the football game with the crew."
"Well, see ya, I think I am going to go play catch with m' boy"

A normal, and/or mainstream person, typically referring to someone who is ignorant about a specific topic/subculture you're adept in.
Originally used by memelords to refer to those who haven't embraced a meme or meme culture (Also called, "Normalfags"), though can be used in reference to other topics as well, and is commonly used outside of meme culture. Can refer to anyone who is outside of your specific subculture.

A term used by the Asperger community (aspies) for non-aspies.
Normies are socially-ept, neurotypical members of society. They don't have an autism-spectrum disorder, and don't suffer from problems with social interaction, nonverbal communication or repetitive interests and behaviours.
Used a lot on Asperger forums, often in the context of relationships between an aspie and a normie.

My normie boyfriend just doesn't understand.
I met a cute normie girl today, but I don't think it could work between us.

A person who is easily exploited both commercially and politically. They agree with whatever the status quo is. When discussing any topic they typically care more about winning than actually being right or solving any issues. Their kind unknowingly serves a counterproductive function to society. Their trait can be traced back to the paleontologic days where it served as a survival mechanism ensuring them to get offspring. Normies will never be capable of becoming inventors as they do not have any imagination since all their efforts are spent conforming. They judge the book by its cover, not the information it holds.
All those normies need a wider perspective on politics, they clearly see the world as black and white.
