Humor is thought to be anger masked by jokes to some folks.

So if a stand up comedian is telling that many jokes, he must be angry about something. Why do so many people laugh when an angry asshole gets on a stage? Somebody with a sense of humor would have to explain how that's about more than making some money for most of the people that do it for a living.
