This is corporate slang for sacking workers, used to avoid actually admitting that this is what you're doing.

Workers beware! They think they can stop us fighting back by using these kinds of words so we don't figure out what they're up to until it's too late.

The company is committed to a long-term project of downsizing and restructuring in response to changes in the world market.

Downside equity

(noun) - an asymmetrical business arrangement, usually in employment, where the risks of loss are concentrated on the employee to ensure that the employee has guaranteed losses on any business reversals and contingent returns on any positive developments.

You have mountains of downside equity in that contract. The partners can deduct from your paycheck to make you eat the cost of delays that the partners exclusively control. They can swallow your commission if their client doesn't pay. They can even recapture from your future salary any underpayment with the negative carry-forward that they've imposed. On the whole, you're just a sharecropper with a JD.

A playful, almost gentle way to refer to a person with Down's Syndrome. It can also refer to someone who acts as though they have Down's Syndrome.

Can be used as an adjective or a noun.

Ex: I wish I was a downsie. Then I could be put in a "special" home and be taken care of for the rest of my days. Responsibility is so overrated.

Ex: You are soooo downsie! I can't believe you forgot how to ride a bicycle!
