Doomscrolling

The act of endlessly scrolling through bad news on social media or news websites, often causing increased anxiety or feelings of hopelessness. Originates from the video game "Doom" and represents the chaotic and never-ending flow of negative content.

"I couldn't sleep last night because I spent hours doomscrolling through my Twitter feed, and all the bad news kept me anxious."

Doomscrolling

When you are scrolling on any media platform especially Instagram reels for hours on end until your eyes and fingers start to vaporize sending your soul into the doom or reels never able to escape

It’s like falling into a black hole of Insta videos you think you’ll watch one, and suddenly three hours have passed, your eyes are burning, your fingers feel like molten lava, and you wonder if you’ll ever surface from the endless scroll- doomscrolling

Originally, doomscrolling meant scrolling as a doomer (someone who is pessimistic about everything,) feeling worse about yourself and the world the more you scrolled.

Nowadays, to doomscroll is to scroll on an app or website forever; until your doom.

I am going to doomscroll for the next 5 hours and ignore my responsibilities to my detriment.

The act of endlessly scrolling through depressing, chaotic, or brain-melting content online. fully aware it’s ruining your mental health but too far gone to stop. Often accompanied by existential dread, bad posture, and the phrase “just one more.”
