Crapology

Crapology: the study of anything that does not reach a high standard as set by the majority of stake holders. Subject is generally a singular object or noun that many people submit evidence on to be reviewed by a group. An example might be crap photos of birds. Criteria to be met may include blurred images, poor placement of the subject, poor distance.

Any object may become the subject of a study in its crappiness. The only criteria is that people must volunteer to judge the object objectively without feeling and bias.
Studying the crappiness of any subject requires a PhD in crapology

Crapophonic

A 'crapophonic' (crap-o-phonic) speaker is sometimes built into budget audio equipment. Sometimes it is used in professional equipment as well in order to provide an alternative to headphones.
The speaker is of poor quality and delivers a barely acceptable output, but is adequate in professional equipment to audition the sound.

Can also be applied to built in microphones in some equipment.
The Marantz recorder has a crapophonic speaker built in. This enables you to audition the sound you have just recorded - however, you would not enjoy full reproduction, or want to endure its output for long.

The crapophonic microphones did the job in an emegency, but good, purpose built plug in microphones would have been better.
