Chiron

There are several meanings.
1) A Centaur in Greek Mythology
2) The name of a planetoid discovered in 1977.
3) A small secret society of which very little is known, possibly originating within the medical profession.

1) Chiron was considered to be a great healer.
2) A special invitation is required to join Chiron.

Charon

The first moon of the planet Pluto to be discovered. It now appears that Pluto has two other moons as well.

In the 1987 science fiction novel Charon's Ark, Charon is depicted as an artificial world in which dinosaurs have been kept alive since the Cretaceous Period.

Charon

Charon, in Greek mythology, is the ferryman of the dead. The souls of the deceased are brought to him by Hermes, and Charon ferries them across the river Acheron. He only accepts the dead which are buried or burned with the proper rites, and if they pay him an obolus (coin) for their passage. For that reason a corpse had always an obolus placed under the tongue. Those who cannot afford the passage, or are not admitted by Charon, are doomed to wander on the banks of the Styx for a hundred years.

Charon ferries the dead across the river Acheron not the river Styx.

Chairanoia

A feeling of fear and paranoia while riding an exposed chairlift at a ski resort. The sensation resembles fear of heights or vertigo. It often induces feelings of queasiness in one's stomach, and in severe cases, it has been known to induce weenie tickle. Chairanoia can happen to anyone, including experienced skiers who are extremely stoned or suffering from a bad case of hangxiety.

Dude, I can't pull tubes before skiing at Jackson. Going over those cliffs on the Sublette lift gives me mad chairanoia.
