When adults automatically think people who are 14+ are doing something wrong in ANY situation, whether inside a store or just walking down the street.

Teen: are you being Agist?

Ageism

All those years before 1969, there was no ageism, then suddenly there is ageism. It makes you wonder if the same is true about sexism or racism, and how much you hear about any of it is actually true.

Ageism seems like one of those things somebody came up with that a bunch of other people joined in and said ageism, oh yeah, I know what this guy is talking about, I've experienced that too.

A type of discrimination that isn't real but kids like to believe it is because they want to be oppressed so bad and they're just upset that they're minors.

adult: "You need to be 21 to order an alcoholic drink here."
minor: "You know that's ageism, right?"

Ageism

The Discrimination of people solely based on their age, mostly targeted towards teenagers or the elderly.

40 Year Old Person: "Hey teenager, is that a VAPE in your hand?"
Teenager: "No sir, that is a pen that I bought from the store to do my homework"
40 Year Old Person: "I saw on Good Morning America that all teenagers are doing are vaping, Im calling the cops"
Teenager: "That is ageism sir."

Boss: "Bernie, You are fired"
Bernie: "Why? I am the best and most efficient employee here!"
Boss: "Well, you are 65 and could retire soon, and we don't feel like giving you the retirement plan we promised"
Bernie: "That is ageism I will cancel you on twitter!"

something especially seen in older childhood/teenage/youth stages* (when ur mostly supposed to interact/be with people exactly/close to your age be it as friends/lovers unless if ofc the personalities don't gel or they're abusive (god alone knows what these terms really mean) literally anyone else older or younger is either ur parent/much-older-sibling-cousin/mentor/guide/teacher or your son/daughter/pupil/much younger sibling or cousin (regardless of whether you actually are/have one or not)** older 50/60 single men tend to 'have their way' with youth/above 18 women due to the fiction/filmi star effect (although even this is increasingly rare and unpopular/scrutinized irl) (here nevertheless primary gender dynamics still play a big role)

**Applies for most age groups in general

* children/babies are considered sexless for obv reasons
