worker drone

A "worker drone" is a man who accepts the social role of working full time for an income that he will give away to a woman or to support his family. His intention isn't necessarily altruistic, but in practice his actions become self-denying to the point of nihilism. This social role is strongly distinct from the "alpha male" and largely coincides with the "wage slave" and "beta provider." The term comes from the role of drones in a bee hive.
"Bill used to be a lot of fun until he married Cecelia; how he's just a worker drone."

"Promise you'll shoot me if I ever become a worker drone."

Carl: Uh, he's at home on worker's compensation.
Lenny: Yeah, he got injured on the job and they sent him home with pay. It's like a lottery that awards stupidity.
Homer: Stupidity, eh?

worker shortage

Worker shortage describes the set of circumstances where employers do not pay sufficient renumeration to compensate people for the work being carried out. More commonly known in the past as 'not paying enough for them to give a damb' the term worker-shortage has been used as a comfort blanket for employers to help them in their delusion that paying poverty wages is sufficient. The term is widely used in error and by institutions that see workers as a controllable expense rather than human beings.
The lack of wage inflation for the decades has caused a worker shortage in the lowest paid jobs.

Worker's Gasp

The Worker's Gasp is used at work when two employees who usually don't know each that other well cross paths and do not know what to say to one another. Instead of trying to come up with quick small talk, one or both employees will instead simply roll their eyes and let out a gasp when they cross paths and make eye contact. This is used much like a simple nod is, but unlike a nod, this gives opportunity for mutual agreement without any spoken words - the mutual agreement being that work sucks and you both don't want to be there, hence the rolled eyes and gasp.
When I first started working and didn't know anyone, I would always let out a Worker's Gasp to all my co-workers that I crossed paths with.
