It can also be described as another variation on the same theme. TV shows, movies, comics, games, anime', & books are full of tropes & many rabid fan-sites now name & track said tropes with a self-explanatory title for each one.
Not all tropes are bad, until Hollywood gets stuck on one.

Q: Did you see "Brokeback Mountain"?
A: That film just used the "Bury Your Gays" trope to make it dramatic. You know, where a gay character has to always die in the story.
Girl: When is Hollywood gonna get tired of the "Friendly Neighborhood Vampire" trope?
Guy: I blame Angel & Spike.
Girl: I blame the Count on Sesame Street.
Guy: Nah, Count Chocula totally invented that scene.

A giant wooden rabbit featured in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. After the scene in which the French soldier taunts King Arthur and his knights at the French castle, Arthur has his men, on the advice of Sir Bedevere, build the Trojan Rabbit in order to storm the castle in the manner that the Greeks did during the Trojan War. However, the knights mess up the plan by not having anyone hide inside the rabbit. After the French soldiers take the rabbit into their castle, Sir Bedevere reveals the plan to King Arthur and everyone else and they realize that they messed it up. The French soldiers then catapult the wooden rabbit out of the fortress and it lands one of the pages.
-King Arthur: What happens now?
-Sir Bedevere: Well, now, uh, Launcelot, Galahad, and I, uh, wait until nightfall, and then leap out of the rabbit, taking the French, uh, by surprise. Not only by surprise, but totally unarmed!
-Arthur: Who leaps out?
-Bedevere: U-- u-- uh, Launcelot, Galahad, and I. Uh, leap out of the rabbit, uh, and uh...
-Arthur: Ohh... (he and Lancelot slowly put their hands to their heads at the realization that they messed up)
-Bedevere: Oh. Um, l-- look, i-- i-- if we built this large wooden badger--
(twang of a catapult is heard from the French castle and the Trojan Rabbit comes flying towards where the knights are hiding)
-Arthur: Run away!
-Other knights: Run away! Run away! Run away! Run away! Run away! Run away! Run away!

Get the trojan rabbit mug.Okay well Troye Sivan is a boy who has changed many lives, including mine. The sad thing is, he's 20 and not a boy anymore (but he's still 5 i swear). This Australian born and incredibly attractive, extremely talented gay has had 2 successful EPs, TRXYE and Wild, and is coming at you with a full album before the end of 2015 (and many of us are SO excited). He also announced that he will start touring and some cities sold out within seconds of them going up for sale. HIs real name is Troye Sivan Mellet, but has been using Troye Sivan ever since he was young and started singing. He sang a lot when he was younger and has a lot of experience, including having been in movies under his belt. He was in "Wolverine" and played young wolverine at a young age. He starred in all three of the South African book-turned-movies series called "Spud". And at the age of 12, he posted a singing video on youtube that had gotten a bunch of views and started uploading more singing videos on his channel "troyesivan18". He then started vlogging and soon became a popular youtuber that is now with 3.5 million subscribers. The rest is history. He is also one of the most genuine and nicest people that cares for his fans as much as we care for him. Even bigger things are coming Troye Sivan's way and I can't wait to be here for him and see how much he grows even further. SO proud of you TroyeBoy.....

Get the Treasure Trove cove mug.A notably addictive wiki where thousands of tropes and idioms throughout creative works are collected, defined, and expanded. Though it originally only focused on tropes within television shows (hence the name), it now covers literature, comic books, anime, manga, western animation, video games, film, webcomics, web animation, music, and others. Unlike Wikipedia (which "tropers" call "The Other Wiki"), there is no such thing as notability on TV Tropes.
