Somebody who believes that they can multitask, but in attempting many different endeavors, fails at all or most of them. A failed polymath. An incompetent, wannabe rennaissance man.

"Dude thinks he's the jack of all trades. He screwed up the math on the cash register, he can't speak spanish for shit, and after he tried to tune up my car, I had to take it in and spend $200 bucks before it would start again. He's the jackoff of all trades."

jack of all trades

A term used to describe someone who knows a lot about many things, but, with the second tag "master of none" added it transforms into a derogatory phrase meant to emphasize how mastery of one skill is important for deeper knowledge.

However, one, oft forgotten tag is the third one: "is oftentimes better than a master of one". Instantly, the term reverses meaning, symbolizing how a person who knows a lot about many things that integrates their skills allows them to surpass even a master of one.

Interesting phrase, nonetheless.

"Man, Tom knows a lot! He's a jack of all trades, aint he?"

"Yeah, but he probably doesn't know a lot about specifics. You know how it goes: Jack of all trades, master of none."

"Jack of all trades, master of one, is oftentimes better than master of one, man. Tom's pretty smart."

Gian-of-all-trades

Previously, coined as "Jack-of-all-trades," a NEXT level of skill and precision has been established. One step above Jack.

Gian is a subject matter expert in all areas. Basically, he can do all that Jack can do and add do it even better. Is your car leaking oil? He can repair your car. Is your printer on fire? He can put out that fire. Is your child playing near an alligator? He can save your baby AND become best friends with that alligator. Don't you worry, just get someone who is a Gian-of-all-trades if you find yourself in a rut.

When you create a character class where all the skills are maxed out, that character was created as the Gian-of-all-trades.
