Taken from the word sham, which means fake, and bangle which means anklet or bracelet. Combine the two to get the slang of Shambangle which means fake jewlery.

You bought a bracelet that you thought was real gold and its not, you now own a shambangle.

When you are just about to fall asleep and something happens that wakes you up and causes you to be unable to fall asleep again.

I was so tired and was just about to fall asleep when my friend telephoned me and shambangled me! I couldn’t fall asleep after that until 3:00am!
