It can be applied to any situation that, in normal circumstances with an average lucky person, would not have happened or would have lead to a funny situation at most. To be a Shadeau is to assume an unlucky life such as purchasing a house contamined with asbesto, losing your job frequently, buying fraudulent equipment without knowing it, etc...
