Platform Crab

A person who scuttles along the platform as trains come to a halt, trying to be in front of the nearest door, giving the best chance of getting a seat. Sometimes results in humiliation when the train pauses then moves a few metres further, meaning the whole exercise was pointless for the crab. Hardcore commuters have the right to tut as this goes on, as of course they know exactly where the door will be and don't need to scuttle.

Whilst standing at Finchley Road in the morning chatting to a friend as a crab approaches, "Damn here comes a Platform Crab, I'll just strategically place my briefcase here to end their scuttle"

Platform Bowling

The process of going to any (usually London) train station and rolling small change as far as you can down the platform without the coin falling into the track, while simultaneously avoiding other commuters.

E.g. "yo me and will wasted so much cash platform bowling on the way home last night"

Platform End Veg

The groups of "people" (people used in the loosest possible term) which gather on the ends of railway station platforms and vegitate (veg) all day long. They either have a compact camera, a basic video camera, or just a notebook and pen, are often virgins, and spout nothing but hypocrisy, lies, and outrageous suggestions of movements and workings on the UK railway scene. They are quite often the scum of the earth, and are avoided by most and feared by some. If you get in their way or even stand close to them, they will exercise their god given right to abuse you and issue empty threats of violence and death, because it's their territory, and all trespassers must be shot.

*Trains approaches "Here it is" *platform end veg spouts every number of every wagon/carriage in the consist over the top of everyone elses video*

"I heard that Network Rail are withdrawing the New Measurement Train and are going to start using Class 31s again with Class 67s and DVTs instead"

*Photographer stands behind veg, camera clicking away* "Oi! I was tryin'a video that! Yer want that camera smashin' in yer f*ckin face?"

Platform Privilege

The privilege that celebrities, professional athletes, and politicians possess over regular citizens, that gives them the ability to broadcast their singular and oftentimes uneducated opinion to millions of people, simply because they enjoy access and prominence in media where non-famous, but more intelligent individuals do not. While all men may be created equal, their access to platforms is not and famous people become entitled to believe that their opinions and ideas have merit simply because they are famous.

Dude 1: "Man, can you believe the crappy lead singer from Coldplay is telling me who I should vote for? Who does he think he is?

Dude 2: "He's using his Platform Privilege. Celebrities always think we want to hear their opinions even though we all know they're complete morons and the media pukes it out to the masses because they're famous."
