pan + cakes = pakes. Clearly pancakes is too long thus creating the shortened version of pake or when in more than one pakes.

A middle name used in the bohemian islands of Fiji. Pakes means round fool this name is normaly given to the children of the laughing stock of the island. Pakes is also a term for stinky turd and is very popular as a curse word in the islands. Most people don’t want to have a pakes around.
