A term in FPS (first-person-shooter) games among other games that, in the literal sense, defines where a hit counts. Hitboxes are important for any and all games involving combat, as not having a hitbox doesn't allow any combat.

A Gaming Term:
An invisible shape bounding all or part of a model.
Most games that use a hitbox are single server/single multiserver games. (Not client-based)
All though all games have one (a hit box) to combine their player models and more, they only become an active part of the model when in a game that takes damage.
