Heatmiser

Formed in Portland, Oregon, USA, Heatmiser are an alternative rock quartet comprising Neil Gust (guitar, vocals), Elliott Smith (vocals), Sam Coomes (bass) and Tony Lash (drums). Much of their early reputation hinged on the group's songwriting flair - Smith's more pop-orientated efforts contrasting nicely with the darker, melancholic detachment of Gust. These qualities were evident on the group's first two albums, Dead Air and Cop And Speeder, both released by Frontier Records.

However, for 1996's Mic City Sons, which was produced by Lash, the emphasis was on creating a more seamless, compulsive record. As Gust told the press: 'We made a conscious effort to do something more complete than what we've done in the past. We're rarely satisfied with anything we do, but since we essentially built our own studio as we went along, we were able to weed out a lot of the problems.' By this time Smith had released his third solo album for Kill City Records, building an audience almost as large as Heatmiser's.

Midnight haymaker

When your spouse hogs the bed and you are left no other choice but to assert dominance

It was 11:20 on a Sunday night, she forced me off of the bed by once again hogging the bed. I edged back into my spot only to once again be awoken at 11:56 by hitting the shag carpet. THAT was the last straw! I went to my storage chest, busted out my last remaining wife beater and just as the clock struck midnight I dropped a fist bomb on my spouse. This was the first Midnight Haymaker to be thrown and if my snuggle spot is ever threatened again the midnight haymaker shall once again commence. Now she knows if she hogs the bed, she will get the the midnight haymaker , when the clock strikes midnight. A midnight haymaker is when you strike your spouse at midnight for hogging the bed.

Haymaker

All of the other definitions are false or sexual, let me clear things up. A Haymaker is a punch that is similar to a hook, but instead of the elbo bent at around 100 degrees, the elbo is only slightly bent (maybe 160 degrees) and usually hits the side of the body or even head. Widely used by unexperienced fighters because it is usually the first and easiest strike one can execute. But they can also be powerful if done right but is almost never very accurate, deeming it impractical in most cases unless one really knows what he/she is doing; even though it is so widely used. Unexperienced fighters usually only hit with their dominant hand too.

-Bubba Joe: Hey fag! I fucked your mom last night!
-John Doe: Dude I don't like people talking about my mom like that, she died you son of a bitch!
-Bubba Joe: HAHA! I'm so macho!!!
-John Doe: *pushes Bubba Joe knocking him on his ass*
-Bubba Joe: *gets up and throws a bunch of haymakers and misses*
-John Doe: *Shovel hooks Bubba Joe in the face* HANDSTRIKESFACE!
