The computer file hosts is an operating system file that maps hostnames to IP addresses. It is a plain text file. Originally a file named HOSTS.TXT was manually maintained and made available via file sharing by Stanford Research Institute for the ARPANET membership, containing the hostnames and address of hosts as contributed for inclusion by member organizations. The Domain Name System, first described in 1983 and implemented in 1984,1 automated the publication process and provided instantaneous and dynamic hostname resolution in the rapidly growing network. In modern operating systems, the hosts file remains an alternative name resolution mechanism, configurable often as part of facilities such as the Name Service Switch as either the primary method or as a fallback method.

An Airbnb host that requires guests to answer increasingly outlandish questions prior to allowing them to simply book a place to stay. Should a guest be able to book a place with one of these hosts, the host usually uses their spy cameras and listening devices to monitor the guest to ensure that none of their 4,000 house rules are broken. Hostility Hosts often only leave one roll of toilet paper for an entire week-long stay. When the guest finally checks out, the Hostility Host typically has a long list of chores that must be completed, including cleaning the toilet with a toothbrush.
Greg is a hostility host that uses his ring camera to watch his guests unload their cars just to make sure they don't sneak in any food that isn't on the list of pre-approved items.

You have been blue hosted when you are told how awesome and amazing their web hosting is only to have your website turned off for days. Similar to blue balls in the sense that you get all turned on only to get shut down.
