Pulling a Clemson

The act of miserably failing towards the end of a task that was started with such promise. The phrase comes from many seasons in which the Clemson University football team starts off their season with huge victories, only to fall off completely at the end of the season to teams like Georgia Tech and get dominated by teams like NC State, South Carolina and West Virginia.

"Look. Clemson is pulling a Clemson again. They started off 8-0 and in the national title hunt, but they actually suck."

Used in Elizabeth Gaskell's, 19th century novel about life in industrial Manchester, entitled 'Mary Barton'.

She took the bread, when it was put into her hand, and broke a bit, but could not eat. She was past hunger. She fell down on the floor with a heavy unresisting bang. The men looked puzzled.
"She's wellnigh clemmed," said Barton. "Folk do say one mustn't give clemmed people much to eat; but, bless us, she'll eat nought."

1. To make a broad statement based entirely on ignorance.
Statement could also be based on rumor, and/or negative or positive popular opinion.

2. To project your opinion of a particular subject as what everyone else's opinion should be.

Example 1. Person 1, "Brah, Circuit City is lametastic" Person 2,
"Do you have anything to base that on?" Person 1, "Well..
no." Person 2 "Dude, you're so clemtatious!"

Example 2. "Hey man, do you like Metallica's new stuff or old stuff
better?" Clemtatious guy says, "Dude, Metallica sucks"
To avoid being clemtatious, he could of said "Dude, I
don't like Metallica"

A young trainer from the Kalos region. Fond of science, pokemon battles, he is a gym leader of Lumiose City. Clemont is currently traveling with Ash Kechum, his sister Bonnie, and Serena. The machines he makes usually backfire and unfortunately cause disaster.
