Machinist

Simply put, a machinist uses tools to make other tools. Some machine tools used are the milling machine, lathe, surface grinder, CNC mill and CNC turning centres, among others.

A machinist cuts, drills, taps, reams, bores, mills, turns, deburrs, files, grinds, programs, and assembles metals, plastics, wood, and any number of exotic materials used in consumer goods, automotive, aerospace, and medical areas of industry.

Machinists--unlike machine operators--are skilled tradesmen. They are required to have a solid background in problem-solving skills using technical math, metrology (measurement), as well as CNC programming (Mastercam, Solidworks, etc.) editing, and operation.

In Monty Python's the Meaning of Life, the machine that goes "ping" is a device that doctors use to determine that the baby they're delivering is alive.

It is also the most expensive machine in the whole hospital.

An engineering school located in a small town in the U.P. Houghton, Michigan. If you think you’ll have free time, think again. Because of the massive workload, students resolve to drinking in mass quantities to cope. The student board thought introducing broomball and Winter Carnival would solve the issue, but tech students see it as an excuse for getting hammered before playing in the snow that doesn’t melt until April. When you do have free time, you go to brockway mountain for the hundredth time if you don’t ski or snowboard. You’re lucky if you join the husky pep band, you get to let out your angst through singing inappropriate songs at sporting events and wearing something you found at the dump on your head.

machine gun flatulence
