Someone who starts claiming to be an asshole to avoid being the same mollycoddle next door or down the street they were growing up, rather than because they really are an asshole.

The poser is imitating assholes now that he/she is no longer imitating kind hearted people.

You can tell a poser imitating a kind hearted person from a kind hearted person, since a poser wont pose as kindhearted without also adding something about themselves being badass to their claim of being kindhearted.

The poser would pose as kindhearted when he/she wanted acceptance from the kindhearted folks, and as an asshole when he/she wanted acceptance from assholes.

Someone who thinks they're making a major statement or changing the world every time they do something an asshole would do, like it's their first time being that way and they have to do/outdo more to prove they are an asshole to other assholes than everybody else.

The poser thought everything he/she said that an asshole would say needed to end up as a quote online somewhere, otherwise people would remember what he/she was like growing up.

The poser was never any of what he/she claimed to be.

Gave people the illusion that you were something you weren't, deceived people.

The girl's aunt and deceased grandmother (whom she had never actually met) were everything she wanted to be but wasnt in everyday life, still she posed as being just like them when everyone was looking, though there were no true similarities when nobody was looking. She did all this to gain acceptance and trust from her own family, since she didnt find either acceptance or trust anywhere else.

Someone who starts claiming to be tough around the edges at some point as an adult, though it's not who he/she is or was as a kid.

The poser kept posing as somebody with a rough edge, even though giving intel (or counter intel) to teacher's and authority figures, and other shit that he/she did as a spy kid was closer to his/her own definition of smooth, always evading trouble for himself/herself while getting everyone else in trouble. Really, the poser's rough edge image was created as a defense to keep people from messing with him/her like they did when he/she was a kid.
