A not so evil necessity.
4chan started as an forum based in the japanese 2chan, first it was the anime discussion, and eventually, the rest followed. Originally, 4chan used to be a silly little website where people from everywhere could spill their most deranged, stupid and genuinely retarded takes and opinions. Now... not so much.
After the Reddit mod invasion and the gentrification of the website, most popular subpages likes /b/ (random) and /pol/ (
politically incorrect) quickly became overflowed with porn. And the rest is history.
Now there is barely no new operations, no new trolls or epic events. Is like a corporate, unfunny edgy parody of the original website back in the OG times.
But the point remains the same: 4chan is a big necessity for the entire internet. EVERYBODY could click and lurk around, and if necesarry, engage in any discussion for better or for worse. It was one of the few places in
the internet were people could express their most dark and "shamefull" opinions, beliefs and fantasies without fear of
consequences. That way, their inner darkness did not
accidentally leaked into their real life. And that is the point: 4chan should be available to EVERYBODY, like a perfect free speech paradise.
In certain way, normies did indeed ruined 4chan by making it too mainstream.
Person 1: I have an opinion that would get me hate if i say it in public.
Oldfag: Just post it in here buddy, it ain't that hard. But don't get angry if they make fun of you.
Person 1: Ok, thank you. Huh... i trought 4Chan was like this big, scary horrible website where Incels and
terrorists lived.
Newfag:
WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU CALLED ME YOU
LITTLE BITCH!?
