Baewatch

The act of admiring a girl and attempting to prevent other men from asking the girl involved out in the vain hope that he will someday get the courage to ask the girl out himself. In nearly all cases of baewatch, a third party will break through the cockblock and take the girl out anyway, leaving the baewatcher to sulk and eventually repeat his mistakes.

Joe: Steve, you're going on baewatch. Leave her alone or ask her out already.

Steve: I can't ask her out yet; I'm not ready. But I'll ask her out one day, I promise.
