Reaching for the money

Producing an inferior product in order to cash in on a popular idea. My friend and I originally coined this term to describe mediocre sequels to popular horror films.

Reaching for the money usually happens when someone, after coming up with a popular idea, is corrupted by greed and slaps together a quick sequel.
After watching Hellraiser 5, I could tell the producers were reaching for the money.
