Resident-Baiting

The act of presenting spurious information on social media platforms with the specific intent of gaining adverse and/or aggressive reactions for the amusement of the posting party and others wise to the motivation of the post. Resident-Baiting is so known due to its origins on the 25,000 member Ibiza Winter Residents Facebook group. Due to the particular susceptibility of those who find such subjects untenable, bait is often in the form of an abuse of animal welfare or disregard for ecological protection.
He is obviously resident-baiting, I can't believe they are all falling for it.

Jew Baiting

; "Jew Baiting" is in no way insulting or critical of the Jewish Faith or People. It is a very nasty control tool which is often used against them.

Calling a Jew a "denier" is equivalent to calling smokers "child abusers", it garners unanimous support with little that can be offered in defense.

No one can take sides with a "denier" or a "child abuser" without drawing scorn from the crowd, so obediently they side safely with the crowd.

Lindbergh offers a perfect example of Jew Baiting by challenging all opinions of non compliance as offensive; in order to force compliance offered only two options either you are with us for the greater good, or you are the cause of a greater evil.

Another is offered By Diethelm and McKee's recent published article, arguing that anyone who fails to accept the conclusion that normal exposures to "second hand" and "third hand smoke" causes lung cancer is a denialist on the order of those who deny that the Holocaust occurred. In spite of the overwhelming legitimate science, which opposes both conclusions.

fanboy baiting

A phrase with two meanings:

1) When the writer(s) of a geek franchise introduce backstory, characters, rules, lists of information, and other continuity details that are intentionally vague, contradictory, and unresolved. The intent is to provoke fan wank and other arguments while always having the carrot of "this issue, we find THIS out!" to dangle in front of fans. Mainstream superhero comics run almost exclusively on this.

2) When a blogger or other editorial writer does an in-depth analysis of a creative work radically counter to the assumptions of its fanbase in order to provoke outrage and fan wank. Usual tactics include "over-analyzing" fantastical elements (e.g. "Man of Steel, Woman of Kleenex"), unflattering interpretations of the themes, and otherwise presenting valid arguments why the story does not logically work.
1) Kingdom Hearts creator Tetsuya Nomura's introduction of a dozen vague, unresolved plot points and refusal to clarify anything is classic fanboy baiting.

2) I wrote a fanboy-bait article explaining why Usagi of Sailor Moon is a terrible role-model. I bet I'll have a hundred pissed-off comments by tonight.
