Abercrombie Size

The size of clothing you buy in ABERCROMBIE AND FITCH or any other similar store, like Hollister or Aeropostale. Often times the size you buy is bigger than the size you buy in any other store. It's a result of their clothing being unnecessarily tight and small.
danielle: what size are you buying that shirt in?!?!?!

michelle: a large in abercrombie size.

abercrombie

A professional sporting goods store - turned - teen couture fantasy established in 1892 by outdoorsman David T. Abercrombie and successful New York lawyer Ezra Fitch.

1. A clothing store that is often the subject of scorn of many "non-conformists." (Can anyone define jealousy?) They sell faux-vintage clothes which, albeit overpriced, are of good quality. Abercrombie and Fitch follow trends, but will always incorporate the "Abercrombie touch" into their products, i.e. having that lived-in, beach-ready feel.

2. Used to describe people who are usually preps and people willing to spend money on image. Wearing Abercrombie anything is an instant status and image booster, because their brand, whether the "non-conformists" like it or not, is linked very closely with having sex appeal. Associated with conformity, but I don't necessarily agree to that: it depends on the person carrying the brand. Contrary to popular belief, owning Abercrombie & Fitch does not mean giving up a sense of style.

3. Used to describe a certain style that Abercrombie has epitomized: an athletic, breezy, all-around American look; Yacht club - meets - varsity vintage - meets - beach party. Since they have a constant theme incorporated into their clothing, most of their pieces work well with any year and any season. More of a lifestyle for the true Abercrombie convert than simply fashion.
1. Let's shop at Abercrombie!
2. She's such an Abercrombie.
3. That's so Abercrombie.

abercrombie & fitch

Purveyor of clothing. Abercrombie sells a lifestyle image that is popular with teens and young adults, a fickle crowd that no other retailer has captured as well as Abercrombie. Emphasis on outdoor activities, premarital sexual relations, and looking pensive are stitched throughout their advertising.
Unlike Gap/Banana Republic, J. Crew, Express, and other competing mall retailers, Abercrombie's clothing is much thicker and made of higher grade materials and finishing; the caveat is that they "weather" their clothing for a vintage look - clothing that could be the longest lasting on the market is instead sold tattered, torn, frayed and full of holes. Their are two premiums to pay: one, for the heavier materials and more stringent checking for defects; and two, for the privilage of wearing such nice clothing that has already been broken-in at the factory.
Is that Abercrombie you're wearing? Why, I can tell you are somebody of discriminating taste who does not have time to wear out his own clothing.

Me too.

Abercrombie & FItch

Abercrombie & Fitch (A&F) is an American clothing retailer. It was founded in 1892 by David T. Abercrombie that originally had been an outfitter of sporting and excursion goods. Because of it's financial struggles in the late 1960s it was sold in 1988 to The Limited and repositioned, under the management of Michael S. Jeffries (current Chairman & CEO), as the new over priced, obvious and generic prep store that's most recognized by it's large posters and photographs of "heterosexual" mostly naked jocks wrestling with one another in fields.
Child: mommy, why are those two men wrestling naked on T.V.?
Mother: !!!! Uhh... (runs in front of T.V.) those are just models for Abercrombie and Fitch.

abercrombie

The GAP of the 2000s. Niche-marketed apparel store that appeals to teens/young 20s buyers through a well-executed marketing campaign that is more about lifestyle than the apparel. The clothes themselves are of decent quality. The style isn't for everyone. Many people, not just emo teens, dislike the line for its reliance on obvious logos and the faux-vintage aesthetic. Prices are similar to more established lines such as Lauren Ralph Lauren or Ann Taylor / Ann Taylor Loft for women, Polo, and Calvin Klein, DKNY, etc. Abercrombie differentiates itself by going for the youth demographic. Although attractive for casual wear, if the wearer ascribes to the brand aesthetic, the clothes really don't work in professional settings so most buyers leave them behind in favor of the "Grown-up" brands by their mid-20s. As with any designer label, dressing head to toe in the same brand speaks of a trendwhore mindset.
"I don't pass over guys just for wearing Abercrombie. It just makes it easier to sort out the ones who haven't grown up -- they have a moose on every shirt."

"Can a girl in AT skirts and kitten heels find happiness with an Abercrombie boy? Probably not unless he's willing to move beyond his college days."

"I can't date an Abercrombie boy. I refuse to date a guy whose jeans cost more than mine."
