(Machan or Machii) Originally comes from the Tamil formal use of the word to address a groom marrying into the family by primarily the bride's brothers/sisters but is also used by the bride herself. Informally used for addressing a close friend as either machii (மச்சி) or machan (மச்சன்) it insinuates that your friend is so close to you as to the fact that he is family.
