Correct (or rather more appropriate) spelling of "rent" that has the traditional meaning: to tear apart, split, or divide.
The addition of the "w" then clearly defines the word's meaning as distinctly different from "rent" that means to purchase use of a property or portion thereof for a period of time. Furthermore, the added "w" brings an alliance to "wring" and "wrought", words that convey the emotional aspect of "wrent", where "rent" fails in that respect.

My heart was wrent when it became clear that I was going to have to rent out a room in my apartment, my precious privacy was going to be challenged.
