A belief that not being the prettiest girl by social comparison usually by definition of an ideal beauty standard, could lead to physical danger may be an example of "catastrophizing," where an individual unconsciously predicts that the worst possible outcome is likely to occur.

I struggle with The Pretty Girl Complex, so I haven't been going to parties because I can't emotionally regulate or have fun when I see other women getting more attention than me.
