Hipster Equity – hip-ster ek-wi-tee noun The cumulative value of an individual's style and preferences that contribute to their overall qualifications to be acceptable among the independent cultural elite (hipsters). One's Hipster Equity is positioned against another's to determine which is greater. Increases and decreases in Hipster Equity can only be determined by external entities.

1. You purchase an original My Bloody Valentine Loveless LP in VG+ condition. Hipster Equity +1.

2. You enter a Walmart for any reason. Hipster Equity -5.

Someone who believes that they are being unique and non-conformist, while in actuality they are all the same. Hipsters, while stressing individuality, all like the same general things: combat boots, cross jewelry, mermaids and american flag apparel for girls; skinny jeans and beanies for guys. Hipsters try so hard to be different that they are actually all alike. Hipsters most likely have a tumblr.

I'm such a hipster, I listen to indie music that nobody else has heard of, and buy all my clothes from vintage stores that nobody else goes to.

hipster dancing

When people, namely hipsters, 'dance' at concerts by standing around, bopping their heads, occasionally tapping there foot and MAYBE once in a while swaying their hips. This is to make sure that they look like they are enjoying themselves but not TOO much because that wouldn't be cool.
