facebook [tool]

is a guy who constantly changes his Facebook status, usually via cell or an application like Twitter. This is usually in a self-deluded attempt to convince himself that people care what he is doing at all times.

Some common characteristics of many Facebook Tools' profiles:
-interests may include a specific light beer, gaming, "rocking out," etc
-favorite music is often classic rock, light rock, or "anything but country"
-his photos often include ridiculous hand gestures as his signature. If in a frat, this is the hand gesture associated with the frat.

"Gah, I can't look at my newsfeed without <Enter facebook tool's name> popping up with another status change! Who cares that he went to Starbucks for the 4th time today?"

OR:
Said to self: "Oh, really, <Enter facebook tool's name>, you don't feel good after a night of heavy drinking? Who knew???"

a completely self-absorbed, unaware "friend" (READ: douche) that you do things for *all the time* that NEVER returns the favor, even in times of crisis, always making the excuse that they're working or busy or just *can't* for whatever reason--always an excuse--ANY time you ask them, no matter what; someone who never returns the many favors you've done for them.

"My Dad just died and I can't find sittage for the funeral tomorrow. Since I've watched your kids for free for the past two days, do you think you can sit mine for a few hours while I go to my Dad's memorial service?"

Non-Reciprocating Tool: "Tomorrow? Oh, no way. Sorry. Gotta work online and stuff. You know. Busy and all. Can't. Maybe next time."

(n.) - an individual who willingly changes his or her behavior for personal gain or profit. In this context, a tool is similar to a poser, with one important distinction. Because a tool does not consider his actions beyond rudimentary cost/benefit analysis, he or she will often be co-opted by corporations or powerful interest groups to support the lame or corrupt positions held by these organizations. A tool therefore, is quite literally an instrument of the man.

Mitt Romney is a tool.
