Sanfranciscafication is the process of a generally liberal city or population area enacting well meaning public policies which result in higher taxes or more expensive living conditions effecting the poor and middle classes, thereby hollowing out that area for only the poor and upper classes.

I enjoyed living in Seattle until it went through sanfranciscafication and know I can't afford to live there anymore.
