rock picking season

A farming term used predominantly in the Midwest. Rocks make their way up through the soil in fields and farmers need to remove these before they are able to use their equipment (large rocks can break tines, etc). This involves walking through a field and loading rocks onto a tractor or truck bed. Rock picking season generally starts on early May and lasts through the end of the month.

High school student 1: May is going to be great! We can play softball at the new diamond.

High school student 2: Unfortunately that's rock picking season so I'll be pretty busy for a few weeks.

White-Picket-Fence-Syndrome

a state of mind where a person blindly holds on to the idea of their perfect lifestyle, regardless of the inevitable life factors that make it impossible for it to be true.

For example if your mom keeps acting as if your family is that all American "white picket fence" family from the 50s, when no one acts or thinks that way (Extreme example:your parents expecte everyone to come home and talk about their day but your brother is hooked on meth and never comes home while your sister is at her boyfriends house pretending she doesn't have a family).

My mom has such a white-picket-fence-syndrome!

Cherry Picking

(also known as: suppressed evidence, fallacy of incomplete evidence, argument by selective observation, argument by half-truth, card stacking, fallacy of exclusion, ignoring the counter evidence, one-sided assessment, slanting, one-sidedness)

Description: When only select evidence is presented in order to persuade the audience to accept a position, and evidence that would go against the position is withheld. The stronger the withheld evidence, the more fallacious the argument.

My political candidate gives 10% of his income to the needy, goes to church every Sunday, and volunteers one day a week at a homeless shelter. Therefore, he is honest and morally straight.

Explanation: What information was left out of the example is that this same candidate gives 10% of his income to needy prostitutes in exchange for services, goes to the bar every Sunday after church (and sometimes before), and only works at the homeless shelter to get clients for his drug dealing business.

This is a prime example of cherry picking.

North Dakota Pickax

While in the process of having a threesome (has to be 2 girls, one guy), the guy puts on a strap-on backwards, so it faces outwards from the buttocks. pickering middle school

Pickering Middle School is a middle school located in Lynn Massachusetts. It’s filled with shitty people, snakes, hoes, and bitches. You’ll find all types of shitty people ranging from ghetto to “I remind the teacher we have homework” type of people. The school is downright disgusting and jails probably have better conditions than this.

Bob: Hey, look over there!
Joe: Why what’s that? A jail?
Bob: Nah, it’s just Pickering Middle School.
Joe: Ohhh, I feel bad for those kids.
