"Skanking" a snowboard or ski means putting a gnarly gouge on the bottom surface that only a pro shop can repair, after riding over a teensy bit of exposed terrain rock.

Also, "getting skanked" is an injury caused by a surfboard's fin blades, whether it's your board (wipeout) or another surfer's board (teachable moment).

"Dude, the snow base at Mammoth doesn't cover all of the rocks. I totally skanked my board on one."
