A extremely rare phenomenon where the state of New York votes Republican in a presidential election. Since the time of the Great Depression (1933), New York has voted for a Republican president only 6 times. Of those 6 times, majority of those elections had a Republican Presidential winner by a landslide victory. The last time New York voted Republican, was when Reagan won a land slide victory in 1984.
Person 1: Will red New York happen in 2024?
Person 2: You mean if in 2024 the Republican Party can make a Reagan style landslide victory? Probably not.

New York 1/8th
A New York 1/8th refers to a common measurement for marijuana in NYC, particularly in the pre-legalization era of the mid-2000s. While an eighth (1/8th of an ounce) is traditionally 3.5 grams, in New York City, it was widely accepted that an "eighth" usually meant 3.0 grams—a well-known but rarely contested shorting of weight.
This was an open secret among buyers and sellers, a subtle nod to the city's hustle culture. Rather than being seen as a ripoff, it became an inside joke—a shared understanding between both parties that the NYC market had its own rules. Over time, the term evolved beyond just weed and is now used to describe any situation where someone knowingly accepts a slight shortcoming with a sense of pride and humor.
Whether you're reminiscing about pre-legalization pickups or recognizing a familiar NYC-style short, the New York 1/8th is a term of endearment, not a complaint.

Get the Arizona And New York Are The Same Age Of Consent mug.
1. An American state that, believe it or not, consists primarily of country fields, mountains, and forests. New York City is not all of New York, it's like 0.01% The Finger Lakes are where you want to be.
2. The state name that appears under "I *heart*" on someone's shirt who's never been to New York in their life.
3. A state that is geographically ideal and full of parks and beauty, but politically a cesspool that drives lifelong residents out.

Ellie: "You coming to New York tomorrow?"
Adam: "You never mentioned anything about New York before. You going to Manhattan?"
Ellie: "Heck, no. The Finger Lakes Region. I'm going to see the Corning Museum of Glass."
