A troll post that began on the newsgroup alt.tv.game-shows in 1998, was later posted in many forms, and spread throughout usenet groups such as alt.pro-wrestling.wwf, rec.sport.pro-wrestling, rec.arts.tv, alt.fan.billie-joel, and many others. It's a lame attempt to make fun of NBC's short-lived Jack Barry and Dan Enright produced "Hot Potato" hosted by the late Bill Cullen.

In ultimate disc but possibly in other sports, a tournament or entire league session in which teams are made at random--i.e. chosen from hat.

A measure of surety to the extent that you would eat a hat. If you are proven wrong you must eat a paper hat. The size of the paper hat corresponds to the level of surety you expressed. (A5 hat sure is less sure than A4 hat sure but A4 is usually the standard.)
"I'm pretty sure that Walt Disney is frozen..."
"Are you hat sure?"
"Yes."
"How hat sure? A4 hat sure?"
"Yes."
"Well you are wrong, now eat this paper hat I've made for you."

The act of paying somebody a large sum of money in order to gain an unfair advantage over another person or group of people. Originated from the concept of a Videogame Publisher providing Videogame Journalists with hats full of money in order to gain favorable review scores. Also used as a term for stealing away a high-profile Game Developer from another gaming platform. Similar in concept to Selling Out.
"Everybody says the game sucks, but PLAY Magazine gave the Xbox 360 version of Sonic the Hedgehog a 9/10. Sega must have been generous with the money hats."
