Love us or hate us, think about the huge, positive influence we've had on other countries: DEMOCRACY. Yes, the Greeks may have pioneered the concept, but had it not been for America's successful experimentation with it, you'd still be living under a tyrant.
Also, the highest-rated definitions of this word SICKEN ME. You say we make so many ignorant stereotypes, when you made one yourself right there! Remember, stereotypes hurt everybody.
I DON'T EAT FAST FOOD, AND I DON'T OWN A GUN....yet. Hell, at some point I'm gonna need it! So'll you!

An American has so many flaws it would be easier to name whats good about them, an American can stop a bullet with their body fat, this is why guns are so common there
Tim: did you hear that filthy American Kyle took a bullet and walked away unscratched?
Adam: looks like severe obesity is good for something after all!
Tim: no hes still got to pay the medical bills for that heart attack from last week

Someone born in the U.S. or just on the continent. Someone who is very open to every race of human that is willing to die for America and it's beliefs. The greatest people from all over the world are gathered here in unison. Me myself coming from Dublin I have grown very fond of this country and all it stands for. Accepting my family and giving us the chance to live in true freedom. I have friends from Asia, russia, ukraine, south american and ireland also. This is the country where I belong and the country I will die for.

Denotation: Someone living in the Americas, North or South, more commonly refering to those in the US.
Conotation(neg):arrogant, proud (of nothing), stupid, hick, redneck, bible thumpers, etc
Conotation(pos):hardworking, proud (of their actions), loyal, dedicated, etc
Conotation(neutral): god-fearing, christian, melting-pot-people, etc
Native
The "first nations", the only 'true' Americans, as they where the original 'owners' of the land.
Note: First Nations did not have a concept of ownership regarding land. I think.
Modern
Stereotypically: loud, arrogant, proud(in the 7 deadly sins fashion for all you christians), lacking in intelligence, etc
In reality: A nation of people, some live up to the stereotype, some don't, some live up to the american dream, that is: work hard, but alot of stuff and you'll be happy, but not all. The American culture is a loose conglameration of many different cultures, centering on european cultures because of the "melting pot" philosophy
To those of you who dislike America, think of this: Hypocrisy is to tote beleifs you yourself do not have, to say all americans are arrogant, stupid, proud is itself and arrogant, stupid and proud notion. Thus you either think these actions are great or are a hypocrite.
Americans do love their country, even with it's faults, but don't most of us love our country of origin? And don't all countries have faults?
