Often known to be one of the best games ever, Minecraft is a sandbox game that allows you to do whatever you want with no rules whatsoever. The game is available on many platforms, most notably being Java and Bedrock Edition.
Minecraft was created in 2009 as “Cave Game”. The person behind this was Markus Persson (Notch), who founded the company, Mojang. Through it’s early development, Minecraft started to gain popularity. In 2011, Minecraft Java Edition was released by Mojang, and made a massive impact in pop culture.
On September 2014, Markus sold Minecraft to Microsoft for 2.5 Billion dollars. This is due to his stress from the game’s popularity. Back in the day, no one knew that Minecraft would blow up throughout the internet. Because of the sudden popularity of Minecraft, all the mistakes and parts of the game will be blamed on Markus. Therefore, he sold Minecraft and his company to, “move on with my life”.
On May 17, 2019, the tenth anniversary of Minecraft was here. Mojang rereleased one of the first versions of Minecraft, Minecraft Classic. Because of the memes, the anniversary, and the nostalgia from the game, Minecraft made a huge comeback and became more relavent than Fortnite, based from Google Trends charts. Famous youtubers even came back to play this game again, one of them being Pewdiepie.
