An condition caused by the daily grind and stress of one's job or career to the extent that it becomes emotionally and physically unbearable.

JOB-ITIS builds in you over time and is caused by a combination of work situations, such as: having to work late, giving 150% and no one notices, hardly taking any vacation or sick time, pretending to ignore when your boss takes credit for your ideas, suffering the slings and arrows of the vicious political atmosphere in your office, getting passed over for that well-deserved raise or promotion, pretending not care when an underling is promoted above you just because he/she sucks up to the boss, feeling physically sick when you wake up on a work day or just walk into the office.

The jobby knocker was a person from days of old. When there were no toilets people took a crap in a abucket in the corner of the living room. The jobby knocker would come around daily and knock on your wooden door with a stout stick, he would collect your jobbies in a cart and trundle it away. Who knows what he did with it.
