A 1 on the CAT scale means the girl has something in her life or demeanor that warrants a negative perception equal to that of owning 1 cat (as owning a cat is obviously an easily measurable detriment to somebody's desirability). For instance, a girl being medically obese would be about 4 cats. Nobody would want to date a girl with 4 cats.
