A modern athletic uniform, particularly in professional baseball, that recreates the appearance of satin uniforms worn for early night games, but using materials other than satin. A type of fauxback or throwback uniform. Compound of ersatz and satin.

The Dodgers' new ersatins look good, but they lack the shimmer of the 1940s originals.
