When two or more people engage in a particularly dorky, off topic conversation which likely has little to no interest by the common person.

"Hey did you hear those two dorks playing nerd bingo? One of them asked me if I knew that black silicon is between 100 and 500 times more sensitive to light than conventional silicon, and could be used to revolutionize solar energy generation? What a douche!"

A special kind of nerd. This nerd is probably at the very top of the Nerd Hierachy. The nerd level is so high, that anyone in the direct field of his presence would probably be infected with his/her nerd virus. Very dangerous.

Dude-ette1: "Quick, to the escape hatch."

When a person is into data to the point of a sexual fetish. Alternatively, one could define the term as a nerd who really likes statistics.

A: "Here we've got the incidence of the word "photon" in science articles over the course of history."
B: "I'm sorry, is this relatively to all the articles, or is it an absolute number?"
A: "Absolute."
B: "The amount of science articles also grew exponentially, are you sure this graph of yours says anything of substance?"
A: "Fuck off, go be a data nerd somewhere else.
